Description

Jesi AI is an AI-powered education platform developed by Node Eight Venture Studio for use in Ghanaian schools. Trained on the Ghana Education Service (GES) curriculum, it provides teachers with tools for lesson planning, lesson notes, assessments, grading, and insights into student understanding and learning gaps. For learners, the platform offers curriculum-aligned tutoring, personalised practice, simplified explanations and feedback to support learning beyond the classroom. School administrators can use Jesi AI to monitor curriculum coverage, teacher activity, student performance and engagement.

Jesi AI currently serves more than 3,000 users, including teachers and learners. The platform is designed for the Ghanaian education context and is supported through the Mastercard EdTech Fellowship.

Objective

  • Support teachers with AI-assisted lesson planning and assessment.
  • Reduce administrative workload associated with teaching and grading.
  • Provide students with personalised learning support beyond the classroom.
  • Help identify student learning gaps and monitor academic progress.
  • Provide schools with data on teaching, learning, and student engagement.

Risk Classification

Jesi AI supports lesson planning, assessment, grading, personalised learning and monitoring of student performance. Errors or bias in AI-generated content, assessments or performance insights could affect learning experiences and educational interventions. The platform may also process student, teacher and school information, creating privacy, data protection and cybersecurity considerations. Its reliance on internet connectivity and compatible devices presents an accessibility and equity risk, as learners and teachers in rural, low-connectivity or poorly resourced schools may have more limited access to its benefits. Appropriate human oversight, data protection, accuracy controls and measures to support equitable access are therefore relevant safeguards.
